Charlie Shuman, our Massawepie 2013 SPL reports on a great week at camp...

Once again Massaewepie has seemed to impress. It was a phenomenal week of learning and fun. All the boys were running hectic with merit badges and bunches of fun activities. We had nine boys attend the Saturday night outpost. We ranged all different ages and sizes on the outpost, but all in all it was a great experience. We hiked about 7 miles total up and down hills and around Massawepie Lake. On Sunday the rest of the boys arrived and boy was it an interesting day. As the boys poured in, the sky decided it wanted to do some of its own pouring. It rained so hard that our campsite flooded and we had 6 inches of standing water throughout our campsite! It was crazy! Luckily that is about all the rain we got and it was beautiful the rest of the week. Not too hot, but not too cold. It was perfect! The new scouts had a great week of learning about scouting as well as getting to know the older scouts. It was an important to the 11 new scouts that we had to learn from the older scouts and interact away from home. They were out of their comfort zones and they handled it perfectly. They were running around, enjoying their Mountain Dew, and getting those Important Merit Badges. It was a great week and I was glad to be a part of it. Thank you to all that made the week great and successful.
