Scouts,

I am preparing to begin work on my Eagle Project.

A few years ago the church started a program called the Back Pack Food Program, which gives food and backpacks to school age children they have identified may need assistance. Since its inception, the program has doubled in the amount of donations collected and the number of children they assist. So the church identified a need for more storage space. Unfortunately the only space they felt they had available was their current computer room. They did not want to completely eliminate the computer space so they decided to split the space between the Back Pack Program and the computer equipment.

For my project I will be separating the computer room on the second floor of the church into two separate rooms. I will make the computer room smaller and create a storage room with the extra space. I plan to separate the room by building a wall, then dry walling and painting it. Once that portion of the project is completed, I will build and install freestanding shelves, that will surround the room. Some of these shelving units will be utilized to store food and other donated items before it is distributed to needy children in the city of Rochester. Lastly, I will create and install shelves for the storage of backpacks that will be packed and stored until they can be delivered.

After Monday's meeting, I would appreciate help from any available Scouts from the troop to help transport some supplies from the first floor of the church to the second floor. The computer room is located right upstairs, just above where we meet. If I have enough volunteers it shouldn't take more than a few trips and not much time.

I need volunteers on these dates:

March 1st..........set up at 8:00am - 5:00pm, break for lunch (provided all days)
March 2nd.........1:00pm (or after church services) to finish up shelving
March 8th..........construct wall from 8:00am - 5:00pm
March 9th..........1:00 pm - finish construction and painting wall. Also, attach shelves and re-attach chalkboards.

Thank you so much for your help,
Ian Marin
