2017 Massawepie

Please read the following carefully:

Troop 341 will be attending Massawepie from July 30-Aug 5, 2017.

Camp fees for 2016 will be $375 per Scout and $200 per Adult. HOWEVER, this cost assumes that we meet the Council’s “Early Bird" payment deadlines. Registration costs will increase to $400/$200 (Scout/Adult) after the Early Bird deadline so we are going to plan our deposit and final payment timing around the Early Bird dates in order to keep our Troop costs as low as possible.

Adults may choose to attend camp for a full or half week (at half cost). As in past years, Troop 341 will attempt to refund adult camp fees through funds set aside in the Troop’s budget.

Payment due dates are as follows:

March 6th - Deadline for initial registration deposit of $100 per Scout and $100 per Adult
April 3rd -  Deadline for final balance of $275 per Scout and $100 per Adult

(Feel free to pay the full amount by March 6th if you wish as that will keep you from having to write a second check a month later!)

There is a “Brother Discount” of $25 per sibling which can be applied to the April 3rd payment.

Camperships are available from Seneca Waterways Council based on need to help pay for Massawepie camp fees. There is more information at the bottom this note (direct from Council) if you are interested in a applying for a Campership.

Please bring your deposit checks to the Feb 27 or March 6 Monday meeting (Ron Kull and/or I will be collecting them) or you can mail them to me at 11 Ambergate Rise, Pittsford, NY 14534. Checks should be made out to "BSA Troop 341" with a note that they are for Massawepie camp fees.

Payments are non-refundable (except for medical or summer school reasons) but can be transferred to new campers not already registered.  See the Seneca Waterways web site for complete refund rules.

All adults attending camp must be must be registered members of the BSA and be current on your Youth Protection training.

This is a great time to update your medical and medications forms as these will be required for all Scouts and Leaders prior to camp.  Prior medical forms are only valid for one year, so if your current form expires before camp, as many do, please make sure that you complete a new form with your doctor’s signature.

That’s all for now. Please don’t hesitate to call or email me if you have any questions.

Campership Information
March 1, 2017 - Campership Application Deadline - All Scouts should have the opportunity to attend camp regardless of the family financials. The actual cost for a Scout to attend camp is over $700. All summer Camp fees for Scouts to attend our camps are subsidized by the council which is why the cost to families is about half. In addition to this subsidy, the Executive Board sets aside additional funds to allocate to families in need. Camperships can be awarded to Seneca Waterways Council Scouts attending Seneca Waterways Council camps. The allocations are made for up to 50% of the early bird fee to attend camp with the percentage being determined from the information on the application. Families that request campership assistance should have a paid camp deposit by the deposit deadline and should plan to pay the balance due for camp, factoring in campership awards, by the early bird deadline. The date of full and final payment is the date used for the cost of camp. For example, a Scout family that pays in full for camp after the early bird deadline should pay the regular registration rate minus the campership award. To achieve the best price of camp, fees should be paid by the early bird deadline. Families have until March 1 to complete the online campership request form at www.senecawaterways.org/camperships. Forms received after March 1 will be considered as funds allow. The first round of notifications of camperships will be e-mailed by the end of March.
