There are some exciting events coming up for our First Year Scouts.

First, all Panda and RazorHawk patrol members (2013 new Scouts) are invited to an advancement event to be held on Sat. Oct. 5, 2013 at Mendon Ponds park. Mr. Nesser and Dr. Scharf are organizing this event to help the boys finish up their Tenderfoot requirements. They also hope to offer Scoutmaster Conferences (see more below). The meeting time and place is the flag pole in the Youth Group Camping area at 2:00 pm on Saturday the 5th. Link to Map.

There will be a court of Honor on Monday Oct. 21. Many of the boys are nearly ready for Tenderfoot. Some need to complete a few requirements and everyone needs a Scoutmaster's Conference and a Board of Review. Mr. Nesser and Dr. Scharf will be holding SM conferences at the event on Saturday and at Troop Meeting on Oct. 7. We will also be offering Boards of Review at the Troop Meeting. Monday Oct. 7 will be the last opportunity to complete Scout & Tenderfoot prior to the Court of Honor.  If your son is ready to advance they must be at the  troop meeting on the 7th.

Scout Spencer Kennedy - a Panda Patrol Troop guide - is heading up a trip to the Challenge Camporee on Oct. 18-20. I HIGHLY recommend this event for the First Year Scouts. It should be a lot of fun, nearly 1500 Scouts from 4 states are expected to be participating, and there will also be opportunities to complete some 2nd and 1st class advancement requirements. Click here for more information, or speak with Spencer Kennedy.

I want to congratulate the group of boys and adults that attended the Blue Mountain Lake trip. I hear you had wonderful weather, did a great hike, and had a chance not only to go canoeing but to jump off some rocks and go swimming. I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures.
